GCF Mission Statement - Grover C. Fields Middle School in collaboration with families and local communities will prepare all students to successfully complete middle school grades with essential academic and technical skills for high school and post-secondary education.
Course Materials Supplies for Social Studies are one three ring binder, loose leaf notebook paper, pens, pencils, colored pencils and one marbled composition notebook.

Dismissal
Note:Students are not allowed to return to lockers or classrooms once they are dismissed from 4th period, without written permission from exploratory teachers.

The assignments are weighted as such:
Classwork/Homework 25%
Quizzes 25%
Projects/Labs 20%
Test 30%
Homework:
I do not assign a large amount of homework.However, students are expected to turn in all homework on time.During the first semester, late work will result in a deduction of ten points per day.However, late assignments will NOT be accepted during the second semester.Students are expected to keep up with current events.This could be through watching news programs, reading the newspaper or reading the news online.
Student Expectations:
Students are expected to arrive to class on time and prepared to learn.Items needed to demonstrate preparedness are notebook, paper, pencil and homework or any outside assignments.CHEATING OF ANY SORT WILL NOT BE TOLERATED.If cheating is suspected, the student(s) will be confronted, parents contacted and consequences will follow.Talking during a quiz or test is deemed as cheating and will be treated as such.Absent students are responsible for making up all missed work. Assignments can be found on the class website. Students are responsible for checking the website to get missed material. If students do not have internet access at home, they may use classroom computers upon their return to retrieve assignments. Board policy will be followed in regards to absences and make-up work.Students are expected to put their name (first and last) on their papers.

Entering Class
1.Come in the room in an orderly manner.
2.Place notebook on your desk.All items not needed during class are to be placed under your desk.
3.Quietly begin working on your start-up activity for the day.
Turning in Assignments
When entering the classroom, place your homework assignments in the tray on the table beside Mrs. Forrest’s desk
Homework may not be turned in at the end of class.
Sharpening Pencils
Pencils should be sharpened during start-up activity time.
If I am not teaching or another student is not making a presentation, you may sharpen your pencil one at a time without asking for permission.
Bathroom
You will go to the restroom at scheduled times during the day.
In cases of an emergency, you may write out a pass to the restroom during start-up, independent work, or group work time.You will need to also sign the class clipboard entering the time you left and the time you return.
Exiting Class
When you leave class, be sure the area around your desk is clean.
Take all of your belongs with you.
Exit the room in an orderly fashion.
Book bags (included drawstring bags) and Purses—These items are NOT allowed in the classroom.Students are required to keep them in their lockers during the instructional day.
